Meet Marika (violin/viola)

Marika spends most of her year on the road as a traveling performer, leader and pedagogue. Her violin has taken her to over 30 countries, performing at a multitude of fascinating and famous venues, reaching from Carnegie Hall to the ancient spice market in Damascus, Syria. Philadelphia Inquirer hailed her playing as “mightily impressive, tonally attractive and intellectually secure”, and her 20 – odd recordings include the GRAMMY-nominated Handel’s Israel in Egypt with the Trinity Wall Street Choir and Baroque Orchestra. Her love for string quartets is great, and being a member of one is definitely a dream come true!

Marika has a Finn’s love for the outdoors and when she is not performing or teaching, you will most likely find her cross country skiing, hiking, kayaking, or mountain or gravel biking. Her kitchen frequently smells very good and she likes to keep her wine and Scotch shelves nicely stocked.
